Latria Graham, Writer, Editor, and Cultural Critic
In residence, December 1-22

Bloedel Reserve is honored to welcome Latria Graham as our next Creative Resident. She will join us from December 1 to December 22, 2025. During her stay she will lead an intimate community event titled Iron in Blood Iron in Clay on December 8 from 3:30 to 4:30 PM at BARN. This gathering will explore the ties between land, identity, and storytelling, which are central themes in her life and work.

Latria Graham is an award-winning magazine feature writer from Spartanburg South Carolina. She is known for her powerful examinations of place, belonging, the natural world, and the stories carried in landscapes. Her writing has appeared in The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, The Guardian, espnW, Southern Living, and The Atlantic. She also writes the ethical travel column for Afar Magazine and contributes to the Garden and Gun series called This Land, where she documents lesser known or disappearing aspects of the American South through memory, history, and close observation.

Graham is also a dedicated educator. She is an Assistant Professor of Creative Writing at Augusta University and a Distinguished Professor of Practice at the University of Georgia in the Narrative Nonfiction Master of Fine Arts program within the Grady College of Mass Communication and Journalism. Her forthcoming memoir Uneven Ground will be published by Mariner which is part of HarperCollins. The book follows her efforts to preserve her family’s century old farm and reflects on what it means to stay connected to land, heritage, and identity.

During her residency at Bloedel she will spend time reflecting on themes of lineage, landscape, and memory. These themes connect closely with our mission of nurturing the relationship between people and the natural world. We are excited to host her and look forward to the conversations and insights she will bring to the Reserve.
