Photography at Bloedel Reserve

We strive to preserve the tranquility of the landscape while offering guests the opportunity to capture meaningful moments in a naturally inspiring setting. To protect the experience of all visitors, photography is guided by a few important policies outlined below.

Before Your Visit
To help maintain a peaceful environment for all guests, we kindly ask that you review the following guidelines in advance:

• Drone use is not permitted anywhere on the property
• Photography is permitted outdoors only
• Posed or professional photography requires an advance permit

Casual Photography (No Permit Required)
Guests are welcome to take personal photographs during their visit when:

• Photography is spontaneous and secondary to the visit
• Handheld cameras or mobile phones are used
• Images are for personal, non-commercial use

When a Photography Permit Is Required
A permit and advance reservation are required for sessions that include:

• Posed or portrait-style photography
• A designated photographer
• Multiple staged compositions or locations
• Photography equipment such as tripods, lighting, reflectors, or video gear
• Formal styling or coordinated attire, including weddings, engagements, prom, cultural attire, or costumes

Examples include engagements, proposals, weddings, maternity, and senior portraits.

Bloedel Reserve staff may determine when a permit is required to ensure alignment with these guidelines.

Photography Session Package

What’s Included

• 90-minute portrait session in the outdoor gardens
• Photographer admission
• Available Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays
• Scheduled start times: 10:30 AM, 12:30 PM, or 3:00 PM

Booking Information

• Standard garden admission is required for all guests
• Optional 30-minute extension available for $50 (maximum session length: 2 hours)
• Sessions must be booked two weeks in advance

After booking, all additional guests must purchase timed admission tickets for the same date and entry time. The session fee includes photographer admission only.

Photography Permit Fees
(90-minute session)

• 1–4 guests: $250
• 5–10 guests: $325
• 30-minute extension available for $50

All participants are required to hold valid general admission.

Reserve Guidelines
To preserve the natural setting and guest experience:

• Drone use is strictly not permitted
• Photography is limited to outdoor areas
• Please remain on designated paths and avoid planted areas
• Walkways must remain clear for all guests
• Parking is limited to the main lot (driving to the Residence is not permitted)
• Equipment use may be limited based on location and guest traffic
• Costumes or character attire require prior approval

For Permitted Photography Sessions
To ensure a seamless experience:

• Sessions are conducted outdoors only
• Large props or installations are not permitted
• Outfit changes are not allowed on site
• All guests must follow guidance from Reserve staff during their visit

We appreciate your help in preserving the quiet beauty of Bloedel Reserve for all guests. These guidelines ensure that photography enhances—rather than disrupts—the experience of the gardens.

Make sure you understand our photo policy before booking your session.

After booking a photography session, remember to have additional guests purchase timed tickets for that day and time. The session only includes photographer admission.
