Fun Fact:  Blooming just before the leaves emerge, this compact rhizomatous perennial will display pinhead-like yellow flowers. Like flowers of a dogwood, each flower umbel is subtended by green petal-like bracts. The genus name honors an Austrian writer on alpine plants by the name of Balthasar Hacquet.
