July 2021
Dr. Peter Marting is a behavioral ecologist, photographer, and artist who has been studying ant hills at the Reserve during his Creative Residency in July.
He has captured these industrious insects at work (as well as some of the other residents of the underbrush), using extreme close-up photography and macro filming techniques. The gallery below shows you a sample of this largely hidden world, as well as Peter at work with his camera.

Peter will introduce you to the world of ants based on his study of the ant hills at Bloedel Reserve. Through his multifaceted presentation using macro footage, an art piece, and the living organisms (i.e., ants on display) you can experience a connection to nature in a newly emotional and informative way.
