Where the Birds Take Us
October 8 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
A Creative Morning with Artist and Writer Sierra Nizhonii Pete
What can an animal teach us about ourselves? What stories live in the places we come from? And what happens when movement, memory, and the natural world find their way onto the page?
Join Creative Resident Sierra Pete for a morning of powwow dance, storytelling, reading, conversation, and creative writing. Drawing from her experiences growing up on the powwow trail and her lifelong relationship with animals, land, and story, Sierra will share pieces of her own creative practice before inviting participants to explore their own connections to place and the more-than-human world through writing.
No previous writing experience is necessary. Come curious, bring something to write with, and be prepared to follow a story wherever it leads.
