Aaron McKnight — Mixed Media Artist

Working directly with leaves, ash, and bark from fallen trees, Aaron constructs forms inspired by the flux of nature’s processes. His studio practice focuses on identifying with the natural world through the faculty of attention. He works in methodical, repetitive processes analogous to growth in nature, layering paper-thin materials to achieve sculptural form. Aaron has shown his works at Roby King Gallery, Bainbridge Island Museum of Art, and Koch Gallery at Vashon Center for the Arts. He has been the recipient of a Morris Graves Foundation Residency.

Aaron on Art and Nature

Aaron works directly with materials that are connected to life cycles in the landscape: seeds, leaves, fallen branches, and ash. He approaches his daily contact with materials as a practice of sensitivity, a meditation on presence and change.
