What does a tree sound like on the inside? What happens when we listen closely to stone, water, leaves, and the small sounds that usually go unnoticed? You are invited to hear the sounds of Bloedel Reserve in unexpected ways with Australian Composer and Sound Artist Stephen de Filippo.

In this interactive workshop, you are invited to explore the Reserve through listening. Using specialized microphones to reveal vibrations and textures usually hidden from the human ear, participants will discover a new way of experiencing the landscape.

After an introduction to concepts of field recording and sound art and showing some examples of his work, Stephen will lead a guided listening walk through the Reserve sharing simple techniques for paying attention to the sonic environment.

No musical experience is required. This workshop is open to anyone interested in nature, creativity, listening, and the hidden sounds that surround us every day.
