Garden Uses:  Specimen tree

Fun Fact:  This wonderful specimen tree was gifted to Bloedel Reserve in the late 1960s by Fujitaro Kubota when our Japanese Garden was first being planted. The age of the tree then was around 145 years old, which makes it now over 200 years old! This cultivar was originally known as ‘Maiku jaku’, which means dancing peacock.
