From Our Backyard to Yours
8/15/2020 — Welcome to this week’s “virtual visit” to Bloedel Reserve.
Creativity & Inspiration:
Dorota Haber-Lehigh
Illustrator, painter, and naturalist Dorota Haber-Lehigh is in residence at Bloedel Reserve for the month of August. In her Pathways article she describes her first impressions of being at the Reserve and talks about a coloring book project she is working on for the Seaside Natural History Park in Seaside, Oregon. She also shares two illustrations perfect for downloading and coloring in.
Conservation & Stewardship:
Plant Partnerships
If you were visiting the Reserve in July, you may have spotted a film crew on the grounds. This particular team was from the WSU Extension Program to film an instructional IPM video for its students. Read more about how Bloedel Reserve partners with educational and community organizations to share its wealth of horticultural knowledge and conservation best practices.
Nature & Well-Being:
Register for Fall Strolls for Well-Being
There are a limited number of spots still available for the Fall sessions of our Strolls for Well-Being program, but they are filling quickly. Don’t wait! For details and to register for a Fall session, click here.

Conservation & Stewardship:
100 Out of 100
At Bloedel Reserve, conservation and stewardship goes well beyond how we manage and nurture the grounds. It also relates to how we manage our donations and other revenues. We are therefore extremely pleased to report that Bloedel Reserve has a 100 out of 100 rating from Charity Navigator, one of the nation’s premiere evaluators of nonprofit charity organizations.
This rating attests to our excellence in governance and fiscal management and lets anyone who is considering a charitable gift to the Reserve know that their donation will be responsibly handled. You can read more about Charity Navigator and see Bloedel Reserve’s rating here.
