Stillness cloaks the Reserve and the resident human population struggles to stay warm during this frosty season.

In the Buxton Bird Marsh & Pollinator Meadow, however, there were ducks, ducks, ducks galore–mostly widgeons but also buffleheads and hooded mergansers. There were mallards too and it’s interesting to see the drakes without green heads and necks, they’re actually quite handsome in a sober sort of way.

Visit the Shop at the Gatehouse to see streams of photos captured from our wildlife cameras. You’ll be able to spot our resident beaver as well as regular visits from coyotes, gray squirrels, and the appearances of an odd Douglas squirrel or bunny here and there.
