Creole Is: An Experiment in Autoethnography

Jeffery Darensbourg, Bloedel Reserve Creative Resident

December 10, 4-5 PM at BIMA Auditorium
Cost: $5, suggested donation

Writing and speaking across a number of genres about mixed ethnicity, Indigenous culture in Louisiana, mental illness, and white passing, Jeffery U. Darensbourg is always having to explain something, including where he lives, Bulbancha, which others call “New Orleans,” much to his disapproval. A Creative Resident at Bloedel Reserve, he presents some of his recent work complicating and illuminating matters close to him.

I think Indigenous science should be studied more. We did not live in wilderness before colonization, but in areas in which the surrounding landscapes were heavily engineered, using advanced agricultural science.
