Join Head Arborist Ken Little who will describe how the forests of Bloedel Reserve are transitioning and how Bloedel is responding to environmental changes. You’ll learn about the forest makeup, invasive species issues, and transitional patterns, as Ken walks you through the ways in which weather trends and events have altered the Reserve’s landscapes. He will also share thinning and pruning techniques and show you examples of the Reserve turning dying trees into wildlife habitat. Please meet by the Gatehouse at the entrance to the Reserve and dress for the weather. The tour will take place rain or shine.
**This Bloedel Reserve guided tour is being held in conjunction with the 17th Bainbridge Environmental Conference, “Our Forests: Bainbridge Island and the Climate Crisis.” The conference takes place on Sunday, March 15, from 12:30 to 4:30 PM, at Islandwood.
