Graphic Score Workshop with Creative Resident Simone Baron
Saturday, February 18, 10:30 AM-12:30 PM

Please arrive at 10:30 AM. The workshop will begin promptly at 10:45 AM in the Japanese Guest House at Bloedel Reserve.

Graphic notation can empower anyone to connect to their inner composer. Starting with a simple line drawing, we will work through the compositional process, ending with the thrilling experience of performing a piece written by YOU! Stick around for a brief performance after the workshop –your piece might be featured!

Graphic notation can unlock and demystify the role of the composer. It can empower everyone to connect to their inner creativity. Using Paper and coloring materials participants are guided to represent an improvised sound/gesture in two dimensional form. Simone workshops and performs the scores with participants.

A discussion will also be held to frame the workshop, asking listeners to consider the question of ownership in composition, their relationships to their own bodies, trees, dreams, sources of creativity and memories. Simone will perform works in progress.

Please bring your own coloring materials and an optional musical instrument.

This event is free with admission to Bloedel Reserve. Timed tickets are required to attend.
