Stop at multiple squash displays\, discover a treat from nature\, and use it to decorate your bracelet. Pause at the Residence to snap a photo of yourselves with our giant pumpkins and guess their combined weight to be entered in a drawing for a choice between six gift admission passes or a complimentary Friends/Family Membership to Bloedel Reserve. \nTimed tickets are required and the event is included with cost of admission to the Reserve. SUMMARY:Fall Strolls Program
DESCRIPTION:Deepen Your Connection With Nature\nStrolls for Well-Being is a complimentary seasonal program at Bloedel Reserve that supports connection with nature through a series of 12 self-guided walks. \nWe invite those interested in deepening their connection to nature to join\, and no experience or special knowledge is needed. New participants receive a guidebook with instruction and inspiration for 12 distinct mindfulness-based walks through the Reserve. Each walk is built around a theme such as joy\, awareness\, or gratitude\, and the walks are designed around locations within the Reserve. \nParticipants become part of a small group that meets three times during the program\, for an orientation\, mid-point check-in\, and closing meeting. The meetings provide an opportunity to hear from others and share experiences. \nAfter the orientation meeting\, people in the program will receive a guidebook and be ready to begin. The program is designed to be self-paced\, and participants choose when and how to engage with the walks. Everyone in the program receives a complimentary 6-month membership to Bloedel Reserve\, which provides Timed Ticket entrance when booked in advance. \nFall Strolls for Well-Being Program: September 11-November 23\, 2024 (12 weeks) \nRegistration for the Fall Strolls for Well-Being program opens in mid-August on our website here. \n

Even if you’re new to nature writing or poetry\, this course welcomes you! \nIn this workshop\, we will consider the question of what eco-poetry (also known as natural poetry) is and can be\, especially in the current temper of our times\, by reading a sampling of contemporary writers of a variety of backgrounds and styles. We’ll look at the ways those writers use specific techniques of poetry and lyricality to engage with the natural world\, ecology\, and place. \nWe’ll talk about how to represent the strange wildness inherent in nature and how it can help us connect with the wildness inherent in ourselves. DESCRIPTION:Deepen Your Connection With Nature\nStrolls for Well-Being is a complimentary seasonal program at Bloedel Reserve that supports connection with nature through a series of 12 self-guided walks. \nWe invite those interested in deepening their connection to nature to join\, and no experience or special knowledge is needed. New participants receive a guidebook with instruction and inspiration for 12 distinct mindfulness-based walks through the Reserve. Each walk is built around a theme such as joy\, awareness\, or gratitude\, and the walks are designed around locations within the Reserve. \nParticipants become part of a small group that meets three times during the program\, for an orientation\, mid-point check-in\, and closing meeting. The meetings provide an opportunity to hear from others and share experiences. \nAfter the orientation meeting\, people in the program will receive a guidebook and be ready to begin. The program is designed to be self-paced\, and participants choose when and how to engage with the walks. SUMMARY:Plein Air Painting in the Gardens: Learn from an Expert
DESCRIPTION:Plein Air Painting in the Gardens: Learn from an Expert\nThe Bloedel Reserve Plein Air Program is pleased to bring together some of the finest Plein Air artists in the region. In 2024\, the Reserve is offering several days of painting on the grounds\, including two days of in-depth instruction with an expert with afternoon time to paint in the gardens. \nMay 18\, 11 AM-4 PM – All Levels Welcome\nRobin Weiss assisted by Nora Masters \nLimit 10 participants \n$130 Members\n$170 Non-members (includes admission) \nTickets in advance are required for the class.  \nTICKETS\nParticipants will gather at the Arrival Garden between 10:30 AM and 10:45 AM. Bring your own art supplies (see below)\, a sack lunch\, and water bottle. There will a 1-hour lecture on materials and design principals\, then a 1-hour demonstration. Students will have plenty of time to paint while individual instruction is given. \nClass Details: \nThis instruction is geared to oil painting\, but other mediums are also appropriate. Bring plein air painting supplies and a way to transport them (cart\, backpack\, wagon). Supplies should consist of\, but are not limited to the following: \nPainting box with tripod or French easel\, brushes\, (#6 hog bristle filbert\, several sizes 10-4 synthetic mongoose flats\, a thin “rigger” script brush and a 1-inch chip brush)\, or similar. \nPaint colors suggested from M Graham Co.: Ultramarine Blue\, Cobalt Blue\, Alizarin Crimson\, Cad Red Light\, Cad Yellow\, Yellow Ochre\, Viridian\, Ivory Black\, Transparent Red Oxide; from Gamblin: Radiant Blue\, Radiant turquoise\, gel medium\, or similar. \nPanels to paint on: Centurion OPL or acrylic primed 9×12 (2)\, 6×12\, 6×8\, for example. \nSuggested misc. items: paper towels\, trash bag\, water\, sun hat\, view finder\, small t square\, sketch book\, pencil (facilitator will have some sketch books\, viewfinders\, and finito pen kits for sale). \nLearn more about Robin Weiss here. \n

In this family-oriented workshop\, Sonja will teach you how to create a beautiful\, small home for your local gnome\, fairy\, or other magical woodland being\, using natural materials. After the workshop\, find a place for your creation in your own home garden. Meet at the Sheep Sheds at 10:45 AM. \nParent/child workshop (children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult) \nCost: $100 per family (up to 4 family members\, only 1 ticket needed per family) \nCost includes admission and all materials.
