DESCRIPTION:Minding the World: Writing the Natural Moment at the Bloedel Reserve Japanese Guesthouse\nHeld in partnership with BARN\, this workshop takes place at the Bloedel Reserve Japanese Guesthouse and combines writing and attending to the natural world as practices that can help both with creativity and well-being. SUMMARY:Creative Resident Dann Disciglio Event
DESCRIPTION:Walk & Listen with Creative Resident Dann Disciglio\nSunday October 2\,  2-3 PM \nJoin Creative Resident\, Dann Disciglio\, for a 1-hour guided sound walk in which participants will wear radio receiving headphones tuned to an FM transmission of the inner acoustic vibrations emanating from within the body of a tree living on Bloedel Reserve grounds. These sounds—such as water passing through the tree’s capillaries\, branches creaking from the wind\, or the distant chirp of a bird\, will be detected and broadcast across the Reserve’s airways by using a high-quality contact microphone and a low-powered FM transmitter deployed at the base of the tree. The transmission will function as an eco-soundtrack\, which will reorient our sonic perspective of the environment while also rendering the voice of a tree hyper-accessible within the environment in which it resides. \n \nLink for timed tickets are required for admission. \nTICKETS\nLearn more about Dann at danndisciglio.com

DESCRIPTION:Workshop with Creative Resident Erika Lynne Hanson \nMarch 19\, 1-3 PM\nLimit 20\nFree \nPlease email Amy Weber at aweber@bloedelreserve.org to register. \nWalking\, observing\, imagining\, and drawing with Creative Resident Erika Lynne Hanson. \nWhile slowly walking and pausing at various predetermined sites within Bloedel Reserve\, we encourage new ways of thinking about the landscape\, it’s history and our relationship to it.  The group will come together at the end of the walk for the drawing portion of the workshop. Through prompts\, conversation\, and playfulness we imagine various past iterations of the landscape: what and who are the past\, present\, and future inhabitants of this landscape?  Together we will also explore alternative forms of mark making\, such as blind contour and rubbings as we sketch. \nNo previous art experience needed!
