SUMMARY:Winter Strolls for Well-Being Program
DESCRIPTION:Walk yourself through winter into spring…\nStrolls for Well-Being is a complimentary\, seasonal program at Bloedel Reserve that supports connection to nature through a series of 12 self-guided walks. \nWe invite anyone interested in finding new ways to nurture this connection to join the program. New participants receive a guidebook with instruction and inspiration for 12 distinct mindfulness-based walks through the Reserve. Each walk is built around themes such as awareness\, joy\, and gratitude\, and the walks are designed around the distinct garden spaces. \nParticipants become part of a small group that meets three times during the program\, for an orientation\, mid-point check-in\, and closing meeting. The meetings provide an opportunity to hear from others and share experiences. Everyone in the program receives a complimentary 6-month membership to Bloedel Reserve\, which provides timed ticket entrance when booked in advance. \nWHEN\nWinter Strolls for Well-Being Program: January 8–April 5\, 2025 (12 weeks) \nThis program is currently in session.

SUMMARY:Writing What You See: A Workshop on the Pastoral
DESCRIPTION:Writing What You See: A Workshop on the Pastoral \nJoin Creative Resident and Poet\, Marshall Woodward\, for this interactive 90-minute workshop. We’ll read poems that highlight how each writer and poet has a unique gaze – a distinct way of looking at the land in their view. Time will be divided between selected readings\, group discussion\, focused writing time\, and walks focused on how we observe the world around us. We’ll read selections from Robert Hass\, Larry Levis\, Vievee Francis\, and others. We’ll pay particular attention to the geology and ecology of the sand\, stone\, and land in front of us around Bloedel Reserve’s Japanese Guest House. Participants can expect to leave the workshop with a poem and a new perspective on nature writing. \nLearn more about Marshall here. \nWHERE\nJapanese Guest House \nWHEN\nFebruary 15\, 1-2:30 PM \nCOST\n$15 Members\n$15 Non-members\, plus the price of admission \nTICKETS
