SUMMARY:Summer Strolls Program
DESCRIPTION:Deepen Your Connection With Nature\nStrolls for Well-Being is a complimentary seasonal program at Bloedel Reserve that supports connection with nature through a series of 12 self-guided walks. \nWe invite those interested in deepening their connection to nature to join\, and no experience or special knowledge is needed. New participants receive a guidebook with instruction and inspiration for 12 distinct mindfulness-based walks through the Reserve. Each walk is built around a theme such as joy\, awareness\, or gratitude\, and the walks are designed around locations within the Reserve. \nParticipants become part of a small group that meets three times during the program\, for an orientation\, mid-point check-in\, and closing meeting. The meetings provide an opportunity to hear from others and share experiences. \nAfter the orientation meeting\, people in the program will receive a guidebook and be ready to begin. The program is designed to be self-paced\, and participants choose when and how to engage with the walks. Everyone in the program receives a complimentary 6-month membership to Bloedel Reserve\, which provides Timed Ticket entrance when booked in advance. \n2023 Summer Strolls for Well-Being Program: June 14-September 9\n(12 weeks) \nPlease sign up for one of the orientation meetings here in order to be registered for the Strolls for Well-Being Program. \nDue to the popularity of this program\, participation in the Strolls program is offered to NEW participants only.

SUMMARY:Just for Members: All About Bats
DESCRIPTION:Learn more about bats in the Buxton Bird Marsh!\n\nFree. Member registration required. Space is limited to 12. Meet at the Arrival Garden for your walk. \nIn partnership with Bats Northwest and the Woodland Park Zoo\, Bloedel Reserve is offering a special opportunity to meet a team of bat biologists and conservationists when they set up acoustic monitoring equipment in the Buxton Bird Marsh. The acoustic equipment is installed for one night and collected the following day\, and the recordings are used to identify bat species\, which have distinct acoustic signatures. The team has offered to speak briefly about bats and their program\, and to answer bat questions that attendees might have. \nLast year\, two bat species were recorded at the bird marsh – the little brown bat (Myotis lucifugus) and California myotis (Myotis californicus). The number of recorded bat passes at the bird marsh was significantly higher than the other sites that the scientists monitor\, and the little brown bat was an exciting species to capture since east coast populations have been decimated by white-nose syndrome\, a serious threat to many North American bat species. \n\nTimed tickets are required for the event. \nEVENT TICKETS
