SUMMARY:Have a Hoot Hunt
DESCRIPTION:Have a Hoot Hunt\nWhoo\, whooo hid all our squash this year?! \nHow many squash and pumpkins can you spot at Bloedel Reserve? If you’re visiting us this October\, the answer is less than 100. Due to the long\, wet spring and short\, hot summer\, our crop produced far less than we’d hoped! \n \nOur woodland owls will lead you on an all-ages scavenger hunt through the gardens in search of gourds\, squash and pumpkins! Stop\, explore\, and snap a photo of yourselves with our friendly garden guides. Guess the weight of our largest pumpkin this year at the Residence\, and win prizes at the Shop at the Gatehouse when you complete the scavenger hunt. \nTimed tickets are required for admission. \nDownload the Have a Hoot Hunt Scavenger map for your visit!

SUMMARY:Creative Resident Dann Disciglio Event
DESCRIPTION:Walk & Listen with Creative Resident Dann Disciglio\nSunday October 2\,  2-3 PM \nJoin Creative Resident\, Dann Disciglio\, for a 1-hour guided sound walk in which participants will wear radio receiving headphones tuned to an FM transmission of the inner acoustic vibrations emanating from within the body of a tree living on Bloedel Reserve grounds. These sounds—such as water passing through the tree’s capillaries\, branches creaking from the wind\, or the distant chirp of a bird\, will be detected and broadcast across the Reserve’s airways by using a high-quality contact microphone and a low-powered FM transmitter deployed at the base of the tree. The transmission will function as an eco-soundtrack\, which will reorient our sonic perspective of the environment while also rendering the voice of a tree hyper-accessible within the environment in which it resides. \n \nLink for timed tickets are required for admission. \nTICKETS\nLearn more about Dann at danndisciglio.com
