DESCRIPTION:Takako Satoh Plays the Koto\nWHEN: Sundays\, April 14\, June 9\, July 14\,  August 18\, & September 14. Performance begins at 1:30 PM.\nWHERE:  Japanese Guest House\, outside deck\, weather permitting.\nTICKETS: Free with admission to Bloedel Reserve \nEnjoy the backdrop of the Japanese Garden as Takako Satoh plays the beautiful stringed instrument called the koto. Considered the national instrument of Japan\, the koto originally came to Japan from China in the 7th century. The instrument’s shape has evolved over time. In its current form\, the koto is about six feet long with 13 plucked strings and 13 movable bridges for tuning. Listeners will instantly recognize its distinctive sound — lyrical and otherworldly. Takako Satoh performs on the deck of the Japanese Guest House\, weather permitting. The concert is free with admission to Bloedel Reserve. \n

DESCRIPTION:Summer Kick-off Concert!\nJoin us for a Bloedel Reserve first — an evening of music with internationally renowned\, multi-instrumentalist Jherek Bischoff! \nBischoff is known for blending elements of rock and classical music to create compositions that are uniquely his own. Enjoy the fresh air and the stunning setting of Bloedel\, while euphonious sounds fill the air.  Make it a complete night and pack yourself a picnic dinner. Beer and wine will be available for sale at the event\, with all proceeds benefiting Bloedel Reserve. \n(Please note: Due to our liquor license regulations\, outside alcoholic beverages are not permitted). \n\n\n\nJherek Bischoff is a Los Angeles-based composer\, arranger\, producer\, and multi-instrumentalist. He has performed in numerous notable venues including Carnegie Hall and Royal Albert Hall\, and renowned ensembles and orchestras around the globe have performed his music. Bischoff has collaborated with the likes of Kronos Quartet\, David Byrne\, Neil Gaiman\, and Robert Wilson. His critically-acclaimed work includes the albums Cistern and Composed and a co-release with Amanda Palmer called Strung Out In Heaven: A Bowie String Quartet Tribute. Bischoff is currently composing music for two new theater productions\, scoring for film and television\, and regularly releasing new music with direct fan support via Patreon. \n\n\n\nWHEN: Saturday\, June 22.
