SUMMARY:Mindfulness Meditation 12/3 (SOLD OUT)
DESCRIPTION:Mindfulness Meditation and Poetry\n“If we surrendered to the earth’s intelligence\, we would rise up\, rooted like trees.”\n–Rainer Maria Rilke \nNature\, meditation\, and poetry…Nature provides the perfect setting for us to connect; to ourselves\, to the earth\, and to each other. Meditation is an invitation to practice compassionate awareness and acceptance of who we are and what is. And poetry can inspire us\, can move us to discover something about ourselves\, the earth\, and all that dwell on it. Juliana Perez is a spiritual counselor\, mindfulness meditation coach\, and a lover of poetry and nature. Surrounded by the natural beauty of the Bloedel Reserve\, Juliana will lead a mindfulness meditation in the Japanese Guest House incorporating poetry that speaks to the wisdom inherent in nature\, and in our very beings. \nSession will last 45 minutes\, including pre and post gathering and discussion time. Please dress comfortably and plan to meditate for 20-30 minutes\, seated in a chair. \nWHERE   \nThis event is held indoors at the Japanese Guest House   \nWHEN   \nDec 3\, 11:15 AM – Noon  \nCOST \n$15 Members\n$15 Non-members\, plus the price of admission \nSOLD OUT

SUMMARY:Iron in Blood\, Iron in Clay
DESCRIPTION:Latria Graham: Iron in Blood\, Iron in Clay   \nTying together the skies above us and the ground below us  \nPart reading\, part creative generation\, this heart filling hour with Latria Graham\, Bloedel’s December Creative Resident and an award-winning magazine feature writer from Spartanburg\, South Carolina\, is a very special offering for the community as she invites us to explore our relationships to creativity and land. \nCreative writing of the past can help us understand an environment in crisis. We are all witnesses\, and our observations of the weather\, soil\, plants\, and wildlife around us present ways that we can talk about our interior lives and memories. The class will begin with a short formal reading highlighting Latria’s personal connection to the natural world and then launch into a short conversation about the art of nature writing. Participants will leave the event with writing prompts and ideas that they can continue to develop once the creative session is over. \nWHERE\nBARN\, in the Great Room \n8890 Three Tree Lane NE\nBainbridge Island\, WA 98110 \nWHEN\nDec 8\, 3:30-4:30 PM \nCOST\nFREE \nAlthough not required\, we recommend reserving a ticket to ensure a seat. \nTICKETS\nNot a member yet?
