SUMMARY:Symphonic Forest
DESCRIPTION:Scott Kildall is the Creative Resident at Bloedel Reserve during the month of August. A new media artist\, Scott explores the many ways art\, nature\, and technology can connect and inform how we see the world. \nScott’s Symphonic Forest is an immersive\, outdoor installation on the Bloedel Reserve grounds that will let visitors experience the life of trees in an entirely unexpected way. Electronic sensors attached to the leaves and trunks of twelve trees will pick up subtle changes in the trees’ condition throughout the day. Those changes will be transmitted through speakers\, creating a shifting soundscape for visitors to hear as they stroll through the trees. \nADMISSION:  FREE with admission to the Reserve. Installation dates and hours are limited. \nPLEASE NOTE: Timed Tickets are required for entry to Bloedel Reserve. \nTo see videos of the installation in progress\, click here.

SUMMARY:Pulling Prints from Nature
DESCRIPTION:Pulling Prints from Nature with Catherine Michaelis\nA Drop-In Experiential Event\nSunday\, August 29\, 12 noon to 3 PM\nAt the Sheep Sheds \nStop by the Bloedel Reserve Sheep Sheds Sunday\, August 29\, between noon and 3 PM and pull your own print from a tree round! \nCreative Resident Catherine Michaelis has prepared multiple tree round surfaces for printmaking. This printmaking technique is one she developed while in residency at the Reserve this past spring. \nPrinting with rounds has greatly influenced her new work\, which will be featured in a fall show at Bainbridge Island Museum of Art (BIMA). Catherine has generously offered to share her process with visitors. Try something new and take home a one-of-a-kind memento of your visit to the Reserve. \nThis event is free with admission to Bloedel Reserve.\nTimed Tickets are required for entry. Book your tickets here.
